Through the pier, St Annes-on-sea is a beautiful modern expressionist landscape oil painting inspired by studies of St Annes-on-sea pier in Lancashire, England.
Standing on the sands, you look out to the stanchions and buildings on top of the pier. The pier is an interesting subject because it is, in my mind, a permanent feature of the landscape I grew up in and around. Surrounded by sand and subject to the tide and the elements, it is an intimate part of the local landscape.
Gestures in deep red and green describe the landscape over beautiful layers of colour created over many painting sessions.
Hand-made Michael Harding and Stokes professional artist oils are used on a Winsor & Newton gallery canvas. The canvas edges are painted.
Beautiful modern art — Through the pier, St Annes-on-sea expressive landscape oil painting.

4. Will the artwork I receive be exactly as shown on the website?
It will be exactly as it is shown but sometimes there will be a very minor variation in the quality of colour due to your computer screen displaying colour (or calibrating) slightly differently from my Apple Macintosh screen.
So far, I have not had anyone find the colour difference was enough to warrant returning a painting. If you are concerned, I will accept returns within 365 days.
