Jive reflects the energy and atmosphere of summer at the coast; the experience of bright days spent by the sea on the Lancashire coast.

I've used oil pastels and natural charcoal in the most direct way possible to express feeling through colour, abstract shapes and patterns. Scuffs in the paper, as part of this process, are left to be part of the finished work.

Artist oil pastels are used with artist charcoal over a wash of Daniel Smith watercolour paint on smooth Fabriano paper (285gsm hot press).
