Artwork shown in an example frame (not to scale)
Untitled (05), Torque invites close looking, revealing tension and structure across layered gestures and media.
Part of an ongoing series exploring gesture as structure rather than expression, the work unfolds as an architecture of intersecting lines, building tension that resolves only through attentive viewing.
Forms deflect, overlap and converge across the field, creating a dynamic network of forces without hierarchy. Direction, pressure and media transitions guide movement rather than depict familiar forms, encouraging contemplation rather than interpretation.
Smudges, dragged pigment and scraped areas preserve traces of making, revealing process embedded within the composition. These decisions reveal themselves over time, rewarding observation and resisting immediate resolution.
In natural light, subtle shifts in texture and hue become more apparent, deepening engagement and supporting repeated discovery.
Created on Fabriano 300 gsm paper, the sheet was secured at each corner throughout the process. The composition extends close to the edges; mat or float framing is recommended to preserve the integrity of the work.
