Abstract original art Untitled (06), Junction oil pastel by
Timothy Gent

Untitled (06), Junction traces a meeting point of forces, where line, colour and pressure cross, pause and change direction. Built through layered gestures, the work carries a quiet but insistent tension that unfolds gradually through close looking.

Part of an ongoing series in which gesture functions as structure rather than expression, the drawing develops as a loose architecture of intersecting paths. Marks lean, break and resume, forming shifting routes across the surface that invite the eye to wander rather than settle on a single focal point.

Colour operates materially, grounding and disrupting in equal measure. Denser passages push forward while lighter, thinned areas allow underlying decisions to remain visible, so that revisions, hesitations and returns become part of the final image.

Smudges, scuffs and scraped-back sections record the process of making, retaining the physical memory of each adjustment. The work resists a quick reading; relationships between marks continue to reconfigure as you move around it, rewarding repeated viewing over time.

Technique & Framing

Created on Saunders Waterford 640 gsm paper, the sheet was secured at each corner throughout the process. The composition extends close to the edges, so mat or float framing is recommended to preserve the integrity of the work.
